Spice Factory, Kharadi, Pune

A rooftop restaurant located right on Kharadi Main road, near Zensar chowk. This restaurant has a sitting capacity of approximately of 270 covers and serves Desi (Indian), Padosi (Oriental) as well as Videsi (Continental) cuisine. All in all, the food variety is vast and taste is good. I would say a very good option for dining out in this area.

I was invited for a food tasting here by a restaurant manager Mr. Roy.

Recommended Dishes: Chicken Manchow Soup, Tempura Prawns, Chicken Ben Ben, Portuguese Chicken, Teppenyaki noodles Chicken

Food:

Chicken Manchow Soup: I asked for a recommendation to Captain and he suggested me this one. I thought it was pretty usual and will not be nothing new, but still decided to give it a try. It was good. Perfect thickness with just right amount of chili and Soy, lots of boiled chicken chunks and more than usual egg white. Subtle taste of sauces and very flavourful stock. I loved the soup.

Egg Knot Chicken Soup: Chicken chunks and veggies in ribbon egg in a tangy thick yellow coloured soup. A nice option in Continental soup section.

Tempura Prawns: A must try appetizer. King prawns marinated to perfection and batter fried. Best think about this dish was the covering. Not too thin not too thick. Perfect crunch and beautiful golden color. It tasted delicious with dark soy served with it.

Galouti Kebabs: Minced mutton mixed with lot of Indian spices and fried on a pan. It was served with a coriander chutney. Kebabs looked appetizing and was cooked well. Coriander powder was slightly on a higher side. But other than that, kebabs were good.

Chicken Ben Ben: Chicken Supreme flavoured with herbs & fresh pepper and grilled on flames. Chicken was supper soft and tasted delicious. It was served with a cream based dip which complimented the meat just fine. Worth a try.

Portuguese Chicken: A continental main course. Chicken drums marinated and sautéed with butter. Main sauce had a tomato puree base, flavoured with wine and added with jalapeno peppers, potato and apple chunks, black olives. It was served with sautéed spinach on the side. Chicken meat was succulent and falling off the bones. Sauce was smooth and simply delicious. A pre- platted main course enough for one person.

Teppenyaki noodles Chicken: A must try in Oriental section. Flat noodles tossed with a sweet and sour sauce with lots of veggies and chicken chunks. Though noodles weren’t tossed on Teppan grill, taste was outstanding. You do not want to miss this one.

Mexican Grilled Chicken Sizzler: Grilled chicken breasts coated with tomato and garlic based sauce on a bed of tomato rice and served with sautéed vegetables and French fries. Nothing to complain about

Sizzling Brownie with Vanilla Ice cream: Nice and moist brownie on a sizzling plate with dollop of vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. Once you get a brownie right, this dessert can hardly go wrong. Even this was tasty.

Service: Hospitable staff. Prompt service.

Ambience: Huge sitting capacity. Nicely done decor. They have outdoor, indoor as well as an air-conditioned section. Comfortable chairs and sofas with table tops done with decorative tiles. Some outdoor tables are good for candle light dinners as well. So basically, you are with family or friend or on romantic date, you will find a suitable ambience for the occasion.
